Comments: Hall of Fame: Crispy Duck at Pine Yard

I've never had the crispy duck, since I go to Pine Yard almost exclusively for lunch, but it sounds wonderful. You can't beat the lunch specials at Pine Yard. I've been going there for almost 10 years back to when they were at the old location on Church. Spicy 3 Delicacies and the Hot Diced Chicken are my 2 favorites.

I love duck when it is cooked properly. There are too many places by me that leave it rubbery and not tender. I don't know what their problem is. When I am in Chicago, I will have to try this place.

While I will not dispute the greatness of the Pine Yard Duck (I think I'll get one tonight), Koi, Evanston's newest Asian restaurant has an excellent crispy duck. It's perfectly tender and crispy but has an added dimension of aromatic spiceness.

Koi does the usual chinese-food dishes, but the flavors in the old standbys seem several steps above your typical take-out. Maybe it's the ingredients, maybe it's just the atmosphere, or maybe it's just the extra buck or two they charge.

Pine Yard's dinner prices have gotten more expensive over the years, and when comparing other take-out or delivery places nearby (i.e. Joy Yee's), I'd disagree about the consistency and value.
