Comments: Chicago Magazine's "Best New Restaurants, 2004"

Pluton gets my highest recommendation. It is a beautiful space, with top-notch service (including excellent wine service, both from the "absolute" knowledge benchmark and from the customer-service benchmark of willingness and ability to match wines to pocketbooks). Nothing too daring in the food, but all very well prepared and plated, and all well worth the price paid. I'll be back (and note the adjacent carwash is might convenient, too!)

Thanks Jim. After i read the article, I knew that Pluton was next on my list. I've been to Jacky's Bistro in Evanston quite a few times and I really enjoy it. I'm anxiously awaiting to see what he's done.

I checked out Tweet for breakfast this past Saturday, and was very unimpressed. There was nothing that was spectacular about the place. Sure, the ambiance was nice, their menu used a nice font, and the restaurant looked trendy and hospitable to yuppie/yupster decor standards [ahr har], but the food was unremarkable. I had heard before I came from a friend that "they do the regular breakfast items very well". I could taste no difference. I would only go back, at least for breakfast, if I happened to be in the area again, as opposed to coming to Uptown just to eat at Tweet's.

I have heard that the dinner menu is pretty good, and it sounds much better than breakfast. I'll have to check it out again for that.

i was surpriseed to read sedela's comment about tweet. maybe things have changed since april. i've been to tweet twice (breakfast), and both times the experience was wonderful. the menu has a wide variety of choices, the staff is knowledgeable, efficient and fun, the atmosophere is lively (great music), and the food is tasty. my wife and i are taking her mother there tomorrow morning for brunch on her birthday. that has to say something :)
