I picked up a recommendation to try the Farouj (cornish hen) at Al-Khaymeih in this LTHForum thread, and I'm glad I did.

It's a marinated, assertively seasoned little bird. Charred on the outside, juicy on the inside, and hacked into perfect pieces. I loved this dish:

Served along with feta, onions, warm pita, and a really delicious plate of torshi:

...it's a hearty, diversely flavored meal for around twelve bucks. I highly recommend it.

They also serve an excellent shwarema, which oddly seems to taste better after a night in the fridge.

Check out Al-Khaymeih (also spelled Al-Khayameih) at 4748 N Kedzie in Chicago.

(Note: I'm traveling, not writing, for the next two weeks)
