UPDATE 10/07/04: Glory is now closed. I guess I didn't eat there enough.
Two doors down from Bucktown's most famous French bistro, Le Buchon, is Bucktown's (and maybe Chicago's) only New England bistro, Glory. A relative newcomer to the neighborhood, Glory has quickly become one of my favorite places to have a casual dinner in Bucktown.
Glory's food is centered on New England-style dishes like clam chowder, lobster rolls, yankee pot roast, johnnycakes, clambakes, and fresh fish. The specials are interesting, fresh, and always new. There's also a nice dessert selection, including Boston cream pie and whoopie pies, making Glory an attractive spot just for coffee and dessert.
The prices are reasonable, most entrees are in the $13-$16 range. They're also part of the Rewards Network. Tuesday nights, Glory has a special offer of two entrees and a bottle of house wine for $22 (great deal!). Another nice thing about Glory is that it's still relatively undiscovered. It's small, but I've never had a big problem getting a table.Glory might be the only New England bistro in Chicago. If you know of another place where I can grab a cup of authentic clam chowder, a lobster roll, and slice of Boston cream pie, .
Check out Glory at 1952 N. Damen, 773-235-7400. Street parking possible.
