I run the risk of being too "sushi-heavy" in the early days of this journal, but I'm going to post this anyway.

This past Sunday, I payed a visit to Tank, a new sushi restaurant in Lincoln Square. First of all, I would like to point out that even a mediocre sushi place in Lincoln Square would have been great. There are very few places to grab sushi anywhere around there, so Tank is very welcome.

Tank is very hip and trendy. Generally, I prefer the more traditional japanese restaurants, but I'm willing to make concessions when something's in style. Hip = crowded. I went early on Sunday so I didn't encounter any crowds, but I hear peak times are crazy.

There are a lot of choices on the menu, from sushi to entrees to small plates. We avoided entrees and stuck to rolls and small plates which were good and very fresh. Many of the choices seemed to lean toward the fusion sushi that is so very popular. Service was very prompt (the place was empty), but I confused our waiter by asking for a simple unagi maki (eel roll) which wasn't on the menu (should've been a no-brainer).

Might be a touch too trendy for what I'm looking for from Lincoln Square, but my love of fresh sushi will bring me back. I'm looking forward to digging a little deeper into the menu. Definitely a possibility for carry-out.

Check out Tank at 4514 N. Lincoln, 773-769-2600. Street parking possible, pay lot across the street.
