I like getting discounts, but I hate carrying around (and remembering to use) those little cards that you get at practially every business.
Rewards Network, formerly iDine, has been giving me money back for dining all around the Chicago area, without having to carry around a card. Last year, I got hundreds of dollars in refunds.
Here's how it works: You tell Rewards Network which credit card you'll use to dine out (debit card, whatever), and then you go use the card at any of the restaurants on their list (which is vast). You pay the full price at the restaurant, but a few days later you get an email verification and a credit posted to your card. You never have to tell anything to anyone, just dine out as you normally would. I've eaten at places having no idea that they were on the list, finding out with a 20% surprise credit. Rewards Network keeps the first $50 of refunds each year, which is usually about 3 or 4 dinners. You don't have to pay them up front. There's plenty of good places to eat on the list (including Opera) and a lot of bars. Most of them give a 20% discount all week long, some only Sun-Thurs. There's bound to be some great discounts in your neighborhood. (You can also opt for airline miles if you don't want the cash refund).
